Built as a tool first, so the links came unasked.
The problem. A statistics topic where every ranking page was a static table, most of them stale. The queries deserved an answer that computed.
The build. An interactive table — eight hundred computed cells — with a twelve-page topic cluster around it. Custom WordPress: one codebase serving seven locales. No translation plugin stack, no duplicated sites.
The sequence. Tool first, cluster second, outreach last — by the time anyone was asked for a link, the thing was already worth linking to. Librarians and resource-page maintainers link to tools; they do not link to blog posts asking nicely.
What it proves.
